ICT magical-ness or not

First week in a new school, like you all, and thought I would find something super exciting to tell you.  As an independant school, which I have no prior experience in any way, I had no real inklings as to what to expect.  High expectations, educational snobbery, smartboards everywhere.... ok maybe not everywhere but at least in classrooms?  When in fact I found the whole thing to be confusing in so may ways ... not a lot of smartboards, lots of acetates though, woooo!  The classes that do have an older version of an interactive whiteboard (possibly an activboard, acti-board?) are sadly no used interactively.  You will be happy to know that I took it upon myself to ensure the poor little board gets to play at least some of the time.  Only to find out the pen is broken (possibly, certainly not functioning in some form) and the IT support were unsure of the software that accompanied the board and where I could find it.  A rather sorry start to my pursuit of ICT magical-ness

  1. it is a bit frustrating when we are learning all these great ways to use ICT and not all schools seem to be engaging entirely with it.

  2. In one of the classrooms where I teach there's a white board. FULL STOP. To teach there is almost like travelling back in time. :P
In another room there's a projector and a white sheet that it projects on which rolls down right in front of the white board. So, we either project, or we use the white board. Some people are just too clever... :P
